He studied Music & Composition and Performance with the main instrument, the Saxophone and minor instrument being flute, and did his majors in Jazz at Monash. before proceeding to Monash Conservatory of Music, Melbourne in 2000 to study music. He also formed a band, Canzona, with some friends where they toured all over India and played at key places like the IIT institutions, BITS Pilani etc. At the age of 15, he was chosen by the government of India as their representative in Russia for a cultural exchange program. It will surely be interesting to see how well he does in a yet another role.He won the Best Drummer Award at the Pepsi Cornucopia contest in Delhi in 1994 besides being adjudged the best keyboard player at the BITS Pilani Festival. In addition to playing myriad instruments, singing and composing music for films and his albums Raghav has recently directed a video for his upcoming album 'Ishq Ki Subah' and says "is very excited to see the reaction". But eventually you understand the duty call and do what's the best for your song." Each song I work on is always close to my heart and one will always be greedy about it. I may however be attached to a good tune as a singer and want to sing it on my own badly, but the music composer in me understands what's the best for the composition and which voice will suit it even better rather than mine. But you know, that's where my ability to play different roles comes to the rescue. But isn't it difficult for Raghav, the singer to let go an amazing tune that Raghav, the music composer has created to some other singer? He smiles as he answers, "Yes, you have got a right one there," adding, "Sometimes, I actually enter in fight with my directors to convince them to let only me sing a song that I've composed and is very dear to me. Raghav Sachar, at a very young age, has got himself a rather big and impressive resume.Īlong with a never-ending list of instruments that he can play, he has also cultivated an ability to don many caps in the field of music with as much ease as he picks up some new instrument and starts playing it. As often said, 'Multitalented' can very well be his middle name.
